Their email had been down for two weeks. We had it running the day after they signed.
A logistics company hauling generators across the country had been running on improvised personal email addresses for two weeks. Their email host had gone down and their IT vendor had stopped answering the phone.
The situation
Their IT arrangement was one person they called when something broke, hired on price. Every one of his clients sat on the same email host with no backups and no contingency, so when that host went down, all of them went down together.
At which point he stopped picking up. Not maliciously, we suspect, but because there was nothing he could do and forty clients were calling at once.
A trucking company without email cannot confirm loads, send rate sheets or invoice. Two weeks of that is not an inconvenience, it is a cash flow event.
What we did
They called us. Somebody on our end listened for about a minute, said this sounds really serious, I am going to be up there, and left. Forty-five minutes later we were standing in their office.
Engineering got called from the car, so the technical work started before the meeting did.
We took over the domain and had email flowing within twenty-four hours of signing. Not a migration project with a kick-off deck. Their mail was moving the next day.
"We did not say we would talk to them the next day. We drove out there."
How the service team puts itWhat changed
ResolvedEmail came back the day after they signed and the improvised personal addresses were retired. They are on a platform with real backups and a provider who answers.
The part that stayed with the team was how ordinary the failure was. Nobody was attacked. One cheap decision about who hosts the mail, made years earlier, took a working company off the air for two weeks.
Order the internet circuit the week the lease is signed. Carriers take six to twelve weeks. Nothing else on a move fails as often.

What to actually testQuestions people ask about this
Does Microsoft 365 back itself up?
Not in the way most people assume. Deleted items eventually disappear for good and a compromised account can destroy data that no one at Microsoft will restore for you.
The full answerHow fast can email actually move?
Faster than most people expect when it is an emergency and slower than anyone wants when it is not. Twenty-four hours is possible. Planned properly, nobody notices at all.
What happens if our current provider just stops responding?
We work around them. It is not the first time and the path is well worn.

"Another great job by Midwest IT. Our company just loves your fast response to our issues."
Client, 2024 surveyMore from the survey wall- A technician who knows your setup takes every request. Not a dispatcher, not a queue.
- Every closed ticket is surveyed and a partner reads every response.
- 99.5% of surveys come back positive.
- Family-owned since 2005. 21 years in the same corner of Wisconsin, not going anywhere.
"Thanks for the hard work. I was kept informed with regular updates until the concern was resolved."

Talk to a partnerTalk to a partner, not a sales script.
Tell us what is going on. A partner will call you back the same business day, look at what you have, and tell you honestly whether we are the right fit. No pricing pressure, no pitch deck.
