Office moves
Can our phones keep the same numbers?
Almost always. Porting takes planning; we schedule it so the old office stops ringing on the right day.

Numbers belong to you
Your business numbers can be moved between carriers and between buildings. The old carrier does not own them, whatever the contract feels like. The process is called porting, and it works for the main line, direct lines and fax numbers alike.
Why it needs planning
A port has a date, and on that date the numbers stop working at the old carrier and start at the new one. If the new phones are not installed and tested, calls go nowhere. If the port is ordered late, the move happens with the phones still ringing in an empty office. Porting takes two to four weeks to arrange, and it is scheduled against the internet circuit, because modern phones run on it.
What we do
Collect the account details the carrier will ask for, submit the port, install and test the new phones before the date, and be on hand the morning the numbers switch. If your old phone system is due for replacement anyway, the move is the natural moment to change it, and the numbers come along.
The one thing that goes wrong
An old carrier account with a name or address that does not match what the new carrier submits. The port is rejected and the clock restarts. We check the details before submitting, which is most of the reason our ports go through the first time.
Order the internet circuit the week the lease is signed. Carriers take six to twelve weeks. Nothing else on a move fails as often.

How far ahead should we involve IT in an office move?
Ninety days is comfortable. Sixty is workable. Thirty means overnight shipping and overtime.
The full answerShould the server move with us?
If it has years of life left, yes, carefully. If it is due for replacement, replace it into the new building rather than moving it twice. We will tell you which.

We do, in your name, the week the lease is signed. Carriers take six to twelve weeks and the order is the most common thing to fall through the cracks.
