What does a managed IT company actually do?
The plain-English version, for an owner who has been told they need one.
By Ryan Sanders, Partnership Director
A managed IT company is an outsourced IT department. Instead of a person on staff, or a contractor you call when something breaks, you pay a monthly fee and get a team that keeps things working and responds within minutes when they do not.
The helpdesk is what your staff see: a number to call when the printer will not print or the email is down. Tickets, a technician, a fix, a survey.Monitoring and patching is what they do not see: software that watches every computer and server, applies updates on a schedule, and alerts a technician before a small problem is a big one.Backup and security is the part that only matters on a bad day: copies of everything that are tested, protection against ransomware, and the controls your insurer asks about.Account management is the part most owners did not know they were missing: a person who knows your business, plans next year's technology with you, budgets it, and deals with your other vendors.Projects are the big changes: an office move, a merger, a new phone system, a migration off software the vendor is retiring. What it is not: a sales channel for hardware, a call centre, or a contract you cannot understand. If a provider cannot explain what you are paying for in a page, that is a sign.
Order the internet circuit the week the lease is signed. Carriers take six to twelve weeks. Nothing else on a move fails as often.
The relocation checklist Did you knowA backup that has never been restored is a hope, not a plan. Ask for the date of the last tested restore.
What to actually test
"Matt was very helpful and friendly."
Melanie, insurance agencyMeet Matt- A technician who knows your setup takes every request. Not a dispatcher, not a queue.
- Every closed ticket is surveyed and a partner reads every response.
- 99.5% of surveys come back positive.
- Family-owned since 2005. 21 years in the same corner of Wisconsin, not going anywhere.
"Tyler got to my request very quickly and resolved the issue within minutes."

Tell us what is going on. A partner will call you back the same business day, look at what you have, and tell you honestly whether we are the right fit. No pricing pressure, no pitch deck.
